Spouse and domestic partner privileges
This is a partial list of the services your spouse or domestic partner can use. In some cases the services are only available to legally married couples; most domestic partners will need domestic partner certification (available through Berkeley City Hall). Call ahead to find out what’s required to verify your relationship to each of the units below. If you’re interested in a particular department that’s not listed, call their office and ask about partner privileges. Please note that the fees listed may increase. All of these services below are described elsewhere in Resource, just check the Index.

Couples counseling: One person must be a registered student. Check the Counseling section for fee information, or visit www.uhs.berkeley.edu/students/counseling/index.shtml (Tang Center, 2222 Bancroft Way; 510/642-9494).

Health services and insurance: Spouses and domestic partners of students may use University Health Services on a fee-for-service basis. The Student Health Insurance Office provides information, appointments, and workshops on coverage for students’ dependents (510/643-5700; Tang Center, 2222 Bancroft Way).

Housing rental listings: Eligible students may obtain rental listing service online. Spouses or domestic partners who wish to initiate service at the Cal Rentals office without their student spouse/partner present must bring a photocopy of the student’s Cal 1 Card (student ID), something showing that the student and spouse/partner live at the same address (e.g., checks or copies of both driver’s licenses), and a note from the student authorizing the spouse or partner to obtain the services (calrentals.housing.berkeley.edu; Cal Rentals, 2610 Channing Way; 510/642-3644).

Campus family housing accepts domestic partners (as well as spouses) in Family Student Housing (housing.berkeley.edu/
livingatcal; 2610 Channing Way; 510/642-4109).

International student families: Contact The Centre at the YWCA (2600 Bancroft Way; 510/848-6370).

RSF memberships: Spouses and domestic partners of Cal students qualify for RSF membership at $140/semester
