Support
Women’s Programs and Services, a program within the Gender Equity Resource Center (GenEq), provides programs, services, and resource information that increase knowledge, awareness, and understanding of women’s issues and rights as well as programs for increasing awareness related to issues of gender, sex, gender identity, dating, and sexual violence. Staff work closely with student groups and campus departments who are committed to the empowerment and advancement of women in society. Each year, Women’s Programs and Services co-sponsors events such as: Women’s History Month, Empowering Women of Color Conference, and LunaFest, a Women’s Film Festival. Staff also work closely with campus departments and student groups to provide a safe and welcoming campus environment for persons of all genders and sexual orientations, as well as to foster a campus climate that resists sexism and gender bias. Educational workshops include “Fresh Out of the Box” (gender roles) and the Women’s Caucus. Paid and academic internships are available (geneq.berkeley.edu; Gender Equity Resource Center, 202 Cesar Chavez Student Center; geneq@berkeley.edu; 643-5730).
