Pay your fees
Billing and Payment Services bills and collects charges for student expenses (e.g., registration fees, housing, and miscellaneous charges) through the Campus Accounts Receivables System (CARS).

CARS billing statements are generated monthly. CARS e-Bill statements are available online through the BearFacts website (bearfacts.berkeley.edu). Students may authorize a trusted third-party ‘Other Payer’ (like your parents) to see e-Bill. Payments may be made via electronic debit from a checking or savings account; credit cards are not accepted. Details may be found on the Billing and Payment Services website (billing.berkeley.edu).

Financial aid awards will credit directly to your CARS account and, depending on the aid restriction, will be used to offset debts owed to the campus (e.g., semester fees, campus housing, and miscellaneous charges). Make sure your financial aid matters are in order, otherwise you will be responsible for payments to CARS.

Late charges may be assessed on delinquent accounts. Other penalties can include being dropped from class enrollment or being blocked from future registration.

The Deferred Payment Plan allows you to pay your semester registration fees in five installments for a participation fee.

The Student Health Insurance Plan charge is billed to all students as part of their registration fees. To obtain a health insurance waiver form, please go to the University Health Services website or call the Student Health Insurance office. See page 15 for information on coverage and waiver eligibility (uhs.berkeley.edu; 510/642-5700).

Refunds for overpayments are sent via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). EFT activation can take up to seven days, so you should sign up as soon as you open a bank account (eftstudent.berkeley.edu).
