Academic
Courses in Jewish Studies: Check the General Catalog or stop by Berkeley Hillel at the beginning of each semester for a complete listing of Jewish classes. Also look for DeCal classes like Israeli Dance, History of Israel, and Judaism 101 (berkeleyhillel.org; 2736 Bancroft Way).
Housing
Alpha Epsilon Pi is the only national Jewish fraternity, and the Berkeley chapter is a place where Jewish men have the opportunity to participate in a combination of faith-based, social, and philanthropic programs (calaepi.org; 2430 Piedmont Avenue).
The Berkeley Bayit is a cooperative house for 12 students from different Jewish backgrounds working together to create a Jewish home environment (berkeleybayit.org; 19 Hillside Court; bayitniks@berkeleybayit.org).
Student groups
Jewish Student Union, the umbrella organization for most Jewish groups on campus, sponsors cultural, religious, political, and social campus-wide events. The JSU meets the first and third Wednesday of every month at 7pm in the Hillel Chapel (www.berkeleyhillel.org/jsu; 2736 Bancroft Way).
Israel Action Committee (IAC) brings Israeli cultural, social, and political issues to the campus. The IAC meets every Tuesday at 7pm in the Hillel Chapel (berkeleyhillel.org/topic/groups/iac.html; 2736 Bancroft Way).
Support
Hillel, the center for Jewish life and culture, welcomes students from all cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. Hillel provides an assortment of programs to challenge you intellectually, politically, and spiritually. Every Wednesday, Hillel provides a free BBQ; every Friday, Hillel Shabbat offers student-led services and a free dinner. Beyond Shabbat and holidays, there are several programs provided by campus Jewish student groups active through Hillel. There are groups for a wide variety of issues, including Israel advocacy, Jewish multiculturalism, and the environment, as well as purely social groups (berkeleyhillel.org; 2736 Bancroft Way; 510/845-7793).
