The Department of Gender and Women's Studies
Gender and Women's Studies offers students the opportunity to study women and gender through an interdisciplinary curriculum. There is a Bachelor's degree and a minor program, reading and composition classes, and freshman and lower division seminars (womensstudies.berkeley.edu; 3326 Dwinelle Hall; cummings@berkeley.edu; 510/642-8513).

WiSE (Women in Science and Engineering) Theme Program provides a living and learning environment for women students with a strong interest in math, science, and engineering. The Gender Equity Resource Center (GenEq)
Women's Programs and Services, a program within the Gender Equity Resource Center (GenEq), provides programs, services, and resource information that increase knowledge, awareness, and understanding of women's issues and rights as well as programs for increasing awareness related to issues of gender, sex, gender identity, dating violence, and sexual violence.
Staff work closely with student groups and campus departments who are committed to the empowerment and advancement of women in society. Each year Women's Programs and Services co-sponsors events such as: Women's History Month, Empowering Women of Color Conference, and LunaFest, a Women's Film Festival. Staff also work closely with campus departments and student groups to provide a safe and welcoming campus environment for persons of all genders and sexual orientations, as well as to foster a campus climate that resists sexism and gender bias. Some ongoing educational workshops include "Fresh Out of the Box" (gender roles) and Herizons: Cal Women Uniting.
