Religious activities and resources
Although by law the University may not sponsor religious projects, there are numerous religious activities that serve the campus community. Student organizations represent different faiths (check here); campus ministries offer spiritual, social, and service opportunities; and there are a large number of churches, temples, and mosques in the community. Contact the Center for Student Leadership for religious resources or community groups (102 Sproul Hall; studentorgs.berkeley.edu; 510/642-5171).

Interfaith Action Initiative (IAI)
The IAI is a new campus organization spearheaded by a group of students at the Religion, Politics, and Globalization program, and is creating an undergraduate space that expands interfaith conversations and has the resources and commitment to sustain collaborative campus initiatives over time. Use the IAI website to find out about upcoming events or sign up for the mailing list (interfaith.berkeley.edu).

Religious holidays and exam conflicts
Faculty are encouraged to take religious holidays into account when planning exams and assignment due dates. If you are aware of a potential conflict, discuss it with your professor as soon as possible.

Beware
Some cults use religion as a hook to pull in unsuspecting people. Check the list of registered student groups if you are unsure about a “student” religious organization (students.berkeley.edu/osl/studentorganizations.asp).
